This year during Data Science Serbia 4.0 I had a privilege to talk with one of data scientist that I really admire. I have to admit that I was super excited to have a chance to talk with Hadley Wickham. This guy has contributed so much in the R- universe that there are some totally legit questions like: “Is it possible for a normal human being to contribute so much and to create so many useful packages?” Here is question regarding this matter on quora and funny thing is that Hadley has answered it personally
Regarding my conversation with Hadley, I was interested in never ending “religious war” called R vs Python. Originally , I was R developer but had to “convert” to python few years ago. It was precious to talk with Hadley, who is now working for R studio, and to compare features , advantages and disadvantages in domains like Pycharm vs Rstudio and R vs Python.
Hadley claims that RStudio is way better for data scientists than e.g. Pycharm which I have to agree. On other side my opinion is that python is much more supported in all new, cool projects and libraries and have better “production” support. Anyway , if you want to be on a safe side , please learn both R and Python. That is something I am expecting from any real data scientist.
